Trent Talk

Only (Halo 20) & Everyday Is Exactly The Same (Halo 21)

This week we discuss the singles Only & Everyday Is Exactly The Same, two albums that have a lot of the same songs on them. Too many remixes.

We also discuss seeing Marilyn Manson live (lol), Slayer, Guns N Roses (and their horrible album titles), and Ren & Stimpy. Because why not? Oh, and Clare gives you a trip hop lesson (which I feel like we've done before, but we love talking about this shit so, buckle up and let us tell you again.)

Speaking of spaghetti, check out this week's recommended podcast Midnight Marinara

We're on new audio equipment, so pardon Clare's vocals being too loud (as usual, though.) Enjoy this experimental ride that we're on!

*Clare said that the timing for the vocals in this performance was different from the album version, but it's definitely not. It just sounded that way in her headphones. Sorry for being a dingus.

With Teeth (Halo 19) with Jordan Scott

This week we are joined by fellow Benview Network podcaster Jordan Scott of Nerd's Eye View! We discuss With Teeth - the album we all expected to hate, but left feeling a little differently.

Clare breaks out her Tig Notaro "Little Suitcase" voice, we find some incredible Trent Reznor fan art, Cheya teaches us about Mondegreens, we mentioned our favorite Icelandic heart throb's career and we make sure not to leave out one of Clare's favorite NIN songs: Home.

"Listen to this episode to find out what means that." -- Cheya describing Mondegreens.

We also tallied our Teeth count at the end and wound up giving this album 18 out of 26 teeth! (17 + an impacted molar.) Not too bad.

The Hand That Feeds (Halo 18)

We're back and ready to party! What better way to party than by starting this episode off with a drinking game? Clare is sick once more, so let's have some fun: Every time she has a muffled cough, we take a drink. Every time she coughs loudly, like an idiot, we take a shot. Ready your bevs and let's get started.

We discuss The Hand That Feeds for a while, we mention a little of Trent's personal history that we only skirted over in the past, in greater detail, we discuss a current copyright infringement petition that Trent is a part of, and we close out the show listening to a track we really love by a band that's not Nine Inch Nails.

And All That Could Have Been, Still (Halo 17) & Deep

This week we STILL discuss the And All That Could Have Been Still CD/DVD set, talking about Still. We also discuss Deep, movie sheboots, and Clare rewrites a Metallica song.

We also rant about guns a little, in light of the recent Orlando shooting. Sorry, not sorry!

And All That Could Have Been, Live (Halo 17)

This week we discuss AOL chat names, Kid Pix, LiveJournal, and the album And All That Could Have Been.

WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO FIND?! We scoured the Internet, in hopes of a copy to view/steal, but were left with watching this on YouTube. Some videos don't contain sound? We did our best to find the most comprehensive list of links.

The Quake Soundtrack

HI OOPS WE FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT QUAKE BACK WHEN WE WERE IN 1996, and also Clare has been too busy to record, so we're going to ramble about this for a minute instead of talking about And All That Could Have Been. We'll get to that soon (in a few days.)

We also discuss Game of Thrones, other video games, what we've been up to for a bit, Ed Gein, and New Kids on the Block. TUNE IN!

We had the link to the Quake soundtrack up but it seems to have been taken offline. Bummer.

Here's the Quake Nailgun ammo box.

Up In Your Grill (Memorial Day Special)

YEEEEHAW! OH BOY, OH GEEZE! Mountain Man Cheyenne & Clarice Dickinson are back with another episode of All Up In Our Grills, the Burgers to Briskets Compendium to America's Favorite Past Time: GRILLIN'.

We discuss the buttula, Barbie grills, the age old argument of charcoal vs propane, & have an exclusive interview with a fella named Brent.

Remember pals, if you can't eat it, shoot it, screw it, or ride it, it ain't worth wastin' a whole lotta time on!

Any bigotry in this episode that was all for the sake of the characters.

Things Falling Apart (Halo 16) with Jesse Seilhan

In this week's episode, we are joined by Jesse Seilhan from Extra Damagecast to discuss Things Falling Apart, an album that both Jesse and Clare have found to be our favorite remix album, although now that we've given it a re-listen, neither of us are really sure why. Listen in as we wax about halo 16 and also test ourselves to name Goosebumps novels.

We're In This Together (Halo 15)

This week we listen to We're In This Together three more FUCKING TIMES, as well as argue about the merits of The Perfect Drug and try to make our own remixes using Crazy Frog Bros and Sea of Sin by Depeche Mode. Pretty groundbreaking stuff, you guys! Oh, and we begin to discuss The Meathead Perspective, which Clare has been a fan of for far too long, and which she is way too excited to discuss. Buckle up!

The Fragile, Right (Halo 14)

We're wrapping up one of the most important NIN albums of all time: The Fragile.

In this week's episode, Cheya has had too much coffee, Clare doesn't want to talk about death, and we explore a lot of the possible deeper meanings behind some of these great (and not so great) lyrics. We also check in with our favorite Icelandic cutie.

We also amend something we said in the last episode regarding Trent's age. We made a whoopsies and said he was 60. Not sure HOW we made that mistake, but don't fear, for he is 50.

The Fragile, Left (Halo 14)

THE TIME HAS COME TO TALK ABOUT THE FRAGILE. In this week's episode we dive into the left side of The Fragile, and we talk about what Trent was up to for the 3 years between The Self Destruct tour and the release of the album. We also digress too much to talk about Charles Manson (again), Marilyn Manson (a little), and...pretzels? Oh, and Clare says "b hole" WAY too many times, and we uncover what the song The Fragile is REALLY about.

The Day The World Went Away (Halo 13) with Skye Cary

On this week's episode we discuss The Day The World Went Away, a single for the upcoming 1999 album The Fragile. We also welcome special guest Skye Cary aka Cheya's mom! She discovers Nine Inch Nails for the first time, and tries to figure out where she went wrong in raising her son. We have fun.

Closure (Halo 12)

On this week's episode we discuss the VHS/DVD release of Closure, which was a little tour documentary from their Self Destruction tour from 1994 to 1996. We also mention what we're going to eat for dinner, which I know you're all dying to hear about.

In order to fully appreciate this episode, you should watch the Closure videos! We cannot recommend them highly enough. Seriously.

Closer to God (Halo 09) & Further Down the Spiral (Halo 10)

Two out of two Trent Talk hosts agree that this is the "best ep we've done so far," so hold onto your butt! In episode 9 we listen to entirely too many remixes, both of us deliver some Imprezions, we talk more about Le Pig studios & the murder in Sharon Tate's house and some uncanny coincidences--or are they?!--and we listen to The Cure for a minute.

Ever wonder what Michael McDonald sounds like over some Nine Inch Nails? Wanna know how to pronounce Kashyyyk? Want to listen to us talk about David Lynch films?

We really went off the rails this week...in a good way.

Piggyback Playlist 3: 1994

We're back with an installment of Piggyback Playlist: the companion project of Trent Talk, where we discuss music that came out in particular years.

This week we're discussing 1994 - the year of The Downward Spiral.

Since the last two eps were a little dark and serious, we thought we would switch it up a little and play a segment in which Cheya has no idea what any of the music is and Clare forces him to try to figure out the name of the artist/song they are listening to. We also discuss the geese that we encountered this year, which you definitely don't want to miss!

Find the entire playlist on Spotify, or stream below:

The Downward Spiral Deluxe Edition (Halo 08DE)

In episode 8, we talk about the deluxe edition of The Downward Spiral, I guess mostly just so we can talk about Burn & Dead Souls, since all other songs appear elsewhere... oops?

Join us for this fun episode! Cheya riffs and does funny voices and Clare gets distracted by her cat! And we talk about The Crow and stuff. Good times.

The Downward Spiral (Halo 08) with Gareth Wood

This week we bring to you our longest episode to date: The Downward Spiral!

In episode 8, we are joined by our friend Gareth via Skype to discuss this masterpiece, we deliver some rather strange Imprezions, and we check in with what our Icelandic pal was up to in 1994.

We also talk about our new partnership with the Benview Network! This website that you are viewing RIGHT NOW! WHOOOOAAAAA!

The audio on this one is a little shaky because, long story short: We had everything hooked up as usual, with the addition of a camera to record video. Things got fun and dancey around Big Man With a Gun & we lost control and dropped the Tascam, losing all of the audio. Luckily the audio was recorded nicely through the camera, only sacrificing the levels a little goofed. Otherwise it's a wonderful episode and we're so excited for you to hear it!

March of the Pigs (Halo 07)

motp.jpeg

In this episode, Clare and Cheya discuss March of the Pigs, the first single off of the landmark NIN album Downward Spiral.

Listen in as Cheya performs interpretive dance, Clare illuminates a Midwestern vice, and the similarities between Trent and Björk keep stacking up. This week we also recorded on Periscope where we fielded some live comments. (Sadly the Periscope feeds expire after 24 hours so you have to tune in next time.)

Fixed (Halo 06)

This week we switched up the format a bit and decided to discuss the album in real time (rather than listen ahead of time and make bullet points of things to talk about.) Things get weird.

We discuss doing drugs at Disney Land while Oliver trifles through paper bags in the background; Clare does a Imprezion to Wish; Cheya & Clare read Amazon reviews for the album Fixed; discuss two video games!
